Below is James Bacchi’s juror’s statement, in which he shares his process for making his selections for this exhibition:
Jurying “STRUCTURE” was an outstanding opportunity to view more than eleven hundred works based on each artist’s interpretation, and how they exercised their creativity with no imposing constraints. I have always relied on the importance of “STRUCTURE” as the basis to realize the outcome of any given concept.
Selecting twenty-eight works for gallery exhibition was challenging, and involved several processes. At first, I was caught up in the pure aesthetics of each work. From there I began to approach each selection with an eye for concept, design, arrangement and the relationship between all the elements. In reviewing each media I was presented with concepts ranging from quite simple to hyper-detailed. My final selections seemed to depend on pure imagination and strength of execution.
